Once upon a time the Internet stopped by turning down your computer, but those days are over. Nowadays ‘the’ Internet is all around us. The Internet of Things goes beyond the Information Society we live in, because the physical world is becoming an information system itself. It seems Manuel Castells’ believe that networks are the basic units of modern society is becoming a more real than ever. This means the world, including businesses, have to adjust and use this new network of networks. New technologies such as RFID support the Internet of Things in becoming widespread and help companies to optimize business processes. It will help to build complex autonomous systems, which can help us in daily life for example by reducing traffic, jams. But it could also help making decisions in security situations, for instance, to spot unauthorized persons in places they do not belong.
